Jessica Chang


HS Community SERVICE Supervisor

Mrs. Chang is a certified K-12 Chinese teacher and has 20 years of experience working with students across various areas from Taiwan, California, and Ohio. She earned her bachelor’s in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan University and her master’s in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Originally from Taiwan, she has lectured at the Taiwan University of Arts and worked at the Ministry of Education. After moving to the US, she has taught heritage Chinese schools in California and public schools in Ohio for years. She is currently serving as an instructor for a youth gifted program. She has always been excited to teach because of the wonderful students and families she meets along the way. She created Journey Learning Studio (JLS) and Journey Chinese Academy (JCA) out of her passion for education and parenting, with the aim of helping students and families start a new journey of learning together.

Josie Liao


HS Community TutoRing & Volunteering Coordinator

Josie is a Junior at Solon High School. She has gained significant experience at tutoring by helping variety of students. Starting in middle school, Josie joined the school’s speech team. She earned the title of Speech National Qualifier and was an Octafinalist in Expository Speaking at the National tournament. Her passion for music is evident through her years of playing the viola and piano. She has claimed First Prize in piano competitions and performed at Carnegie Hall. Josie enjoys contributing her musical talents as a violist in the school’s Sinfonia Orchestra. Beyond her academic pursuits, speech, and musical endeavors, Josie is a dedicated member of the school’s varsity volleyball team. It is worth noting that Josie is trilingual, displaying proficiency in English, achieving a perfect score of 5 on the AP Chinese exam, and actively studying Spanish at school. Jason Cheng


Hs Community Tutor

Jason is a Senior at Chagrin Falls High School and has taken many honors and AP courses. Jason was able to bridge to AP Chinese through JLS and is currently taking AP French in school. Jason is a TA for Chinese, Math, and SAT courses. Last year, he took a main role in restarting his school’s Science Olympiad program. Jason’s love for music is shown by his many years of playing the piano and two years of harp. In 2019, Jason participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The following year, Jason would go on to be a semifinalist for the 2020 Spell Pundit National Online Spelling Bee. During the 2023 March SATs, Jason was able to earn a perfect Superscore of 1600. Due to his score, he was able to do two rounds of SAT tutoring for Schoolhouse World in both English and Math. (Jason was a JCA Honors Chinese & JLS SAT Prep Student)

Emma Wang


HS Community Tutor

Emma is a Junior at Beachwood High School, consistently earning a place on the honor roll. She actively engages in community service, volunteering at various events. Emma has excelled in her academic pursuits, taking AP courses such as AP Spanish, AP Calculus AB, AP European History, and AP Physics 1. Her passion for volunteering extends to tutoring, where she has assisted students in English, covering reading, writing, and grammar, as well as in Spanish. Emma enjoys working with students, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. Beyond academics, Emma is a proficient in both piano and violin. On the athletic front, Emma is an active member of the school tennis team, showcasing her dedication to both academics and extracurricular activities. (Emma was JLS SAT Prep Student and is currently taking JCA AP Chinese)
